About
I grew up traveling the world with my diplomat parents, and have lived in Germany, Bolivia, Somalia, Afghanistan, Japan, Korea (and have visited plenty of others), and currently split my time between the United States and Mexico. After several academic endeavors (including computer programming and fine art photography!) and various career choices, I finally settled into the law and practiced as an attorney for over twenty years – although writing has always been my first love.
My writing focuses on strong characterization, a sense of adventure, and emotional impact, reflecting my own passionate view on life. I draw from positive experiences in my life (going on safari, being in a television commercial, becoming a lifeguard) and more painful ones (being kidnapped as a child at knife-point [promptly rescued by Dad!], breaking my arms falling 60 feet off a cliff, breaking my neck at the senior prom) to realistically craft my characters, both good and evil.
The list of things I love is long and includes my family (I survived having five teenagers at one time!), Christmas, cooking, laughing, being an introvert (despite my propensity to arm-waving when excited about a topic), intriguing mouths, pretty shoes, sneezing and – of course – reading. My list of dislikes is relatively small: bigots, hypocrites and mean people. Oh, and lima beans.
I live with my fabulous husband and split my time between our Colorado and Mexico homes.
